One of the most influential actresses of our generation, Catherine Zeta-Jones has earned every accolade she's received. The Chicago star has done a bit of everything; from acting in films and musicals, to stage productions, to television and streaming series like last month's Wednesday and National Treasure: Edge of History, which is set to release on Disney+ later this week.

While she's spent decades in the spotlight, she's managed to keep her family a little more private. Dylan and Carys, her children with husband Michael Douglas, tend to attract less attention than either of their famous parents. Though their down-to-earth attitude has given them nods of approval from the public, many wonder if Dylan or Carys would ever consider following in their parents' footsteps and becoming actors.

Zeta-Jones Has Been In The Industry Decades

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been acting since the age of eight. Starting out in stage productions, the actress transitioned to film and television starting in the 90s. While she had an abnormal childhood, her kids' were much more typical (or as typical as they can be when your parents are both famous).

Her Kids' Career Paths

In an interview with Parade, Zeta-Jones sat down to discuss her upcoming role in National Treasure: Edge of History. During the talk, she opened up about her life, her career, motherhood, and what her kids are up to these days. Though Dylan, 22, and Carys, 19, have both attended school for politics, apparently they haven't ruled out acting as a profession entirely.

In Fact, They're Pretty Open To It

Given how famous both their parents are, it's surprising that Dylan and Carys aren't actors. Zeta-Jones commented further on the topic by saying,

"They’d love to join the business! My son has done theater production since high school. They’ve both been to drama camp. But they also love learning and are history buffs. My son graduated from Brown University this year and he studied political science. He’s doing internships and working on political PACs. My daughter is currently studying foreign relations and diplomacy at school. They got their brains from me, though my husband likes to differ."

They Understand How Difficult The Industry Can Be

Zeta-Jones shares that her kids' acting goals don't include becoming true celebrities like their parents. They know what it's like to navigate Hollywood. She continued by saying, "they don’t want to be famous; they just want to be good actors."
