Pink's Surprising Admission: 'Madonna Doesn't Like Me'

It happened on the Regis and Kelly show during a planned joint appearance in the 2000s. According to Pink, Madonna tried to outsmart her, but it didn't work because of her strong personality, which upset the Hung Up singer.

Pink corrected a misconception that the incident was a "fangirl moment gone wrong" when she visited Madonna's dressing room. Upon getting to the stage, former host, Regis Philbin, teased her, saying, "I heard you were falling over yourself backstage..."

The Just Give Me A Reason singer didn't find the joke amusing as it made her look silly. So, she replied saying, "I thought she wanted to meet me."

Pink's response shifted her from being the eager fangirl to being a worthy upcoming peer. Apparently, Madonna didn't like it, so the bit didn't air, and any chance of the two of them forming a relationship went away.

Pink's impression of Madonna wanting to meet her stemmed from the singer inviting her for the iconic three-way kiss at the 2003 VMAs with Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. The singer said she wasn't the only one who didn't make the cut on Madonna's shortlist.

Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, and other buzzing pop stars of the early 2000s got the invite. However, the mother of two said she was busy having fun with her then-boyfriend, Carey Hart, now her husband.

Despite the awkward experiences over a decade ago, Pink insists she still loves the singer. She decided it's not Madonna's fault that she (Pink) is polarizing, so you either love or dislike her.

This anecdote is especially interesting because of the reignited decades-long feud between Pink and Christina Aguilera. Although the duo collaborated on the Grammy-winning Lady Marmalade, they didn't see eye-to-eye on the music video set.

A Twitter thread showed Pink shading Aguilera "throughout her career," including the interview where she described the making of Lady Marmalade's music video as difficult because of certain individuals.

Pink then clarified that Mya and Kim were nice, leaving people to assume that the mean person was the only collaborator left, Aguilera. The latter had barely addressed the incidents or commented except once when she described Pink as having an elusive sweet side.

The Twitter thread alleged that Pink wanted the bridge, which went to Aguilera because she considered herself the better singer.

Interestingly, Pink once tweeted about being the least troublesome person between her, Aguilera and Britney Spears ⁠— the two people featured in the three-way kiss.

The Twitter user referenced Pink's recollection of the Lady Marmalade incident because she sang a different tune while filming the video. She cordially connected with all the women and invited them to her 2004 birthday party.

Pink also spoke about losing Aguilera's hit single, Beautiful, which the singer performed last year at the AIDs benefit in Paris. Linda Perry, who gave Aguilera the bridge in Lady Marmalade, also wrote that song.

Pink's fans supported her by saying she has every right to express herself however she deemed necessary.

Fans accused Pink of seeking cheap publicity for her new music by resurrecting the two-decades-old beef.

Pink recently released her ninth studio album, Trustfall, which she's been promoting; hence, the interviews and painful anecdotes. It's her first comprehensive project since her 2019 album, Hurts 2B Human.

She's touring the albumin North America this Fall.

For Pink, the album is about living daily lives despite dealing with anxiety and insecurities.

According to People, Pink said, "I did not know I was going to have a family. I didn't picture that for myself because I was terrified I would be a terrible mother." She continued, "But, oh my God, being a mom is the most incredible thing I've ever done. It's shocking how responsible I've become."
