People Are Picking Apart Kate Winslet's Hair on the 'Titanic' Anniversary Poster

With the blockbuster film’s re-release comes an updated poster, and it’s now going viral on social media for all the wrong reasons.

It shows the two main characters – ill-fated lovers Rose DeWitt Bukater and Jack Dawson, played by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio – holding each other in an embrace.

One detail has left fans baffled, though. In the new poster, Winslet is wearing a hairstyle that seems to be having an identity crisis.

One side of her hair is styled in a curly updo, but the other is flowing down in loose waves. While the new poster has a lot of similarities with the original one, the latter didn’t seem to have any glaring issues with the hair.

It’s not surprising then that it has gone viral. A post on Twitter got a lot of hilarious comments, such as “the real tragedy is this poster” and “Her hair!! Something is not right!”

Writer Hunter Harris shared the tweet and asked, “why does she have two different hairstyles?”

A commenter took a stab at an explanation, saying, “a perm? on the titanic? Isn’t the first cardinal rule of perm maintenance that you’re forbidden to wet your hair for at least 24 hours after getting a perm?”

Another gave a rather serious reply: “Because it represents the duality of her having to portray her societal role and the life she wishes to have, free, with Jack.”

Another reply had us ROFLing: “She needed a different one for both near or far … or — frankly — wherever she is.”

A commenter also opined that “the only difference between the remaster and the original is that they uncurled her hair.”

One Twitter user couldn’t handle the stress: “really stressing me out how kate winslet has two different hair styles here.”

Another was just plain angry, saying the poster was “a f***ing mess” and it was baffling “somebody actually approved it.”
