Lucy Helps Baby Get Ready

In a new video uploaded by TikTok user @uhohtwins, he's seen changing one of the twins and getting her dressed while Lucy stands by the side and waits for instruction from Josh Rheaume on how to help out.

As you would've guessed, the time came for Josh to get some items that are out of reach and Lucy came to the rescue. From the diaper to the trolley and even the thermometer, Lucy brought it all!

It's amazing to see how not only hardworking Lucy is, but how smart she is too for her to recognize those things, it means she's been spending quality time around the family and taking notes along the way.

Josh And Kelly Were Unsure Of Lucy's Reaction When They Brought The Twins Home

When the couple brought their twin girls Lily and Lennon home earlier this year, they weren't sure how Lucy who had been with them for seven years would handle the new addition to the family. He was suspicious at first but quickly came around and it's been bliss ever since.

Josh told Today.com,

“We learned pretty quickly that what we had to do was include her in as much as we could, with all the tricks that I had trained Lucy over the years, we figured that we could put them into action.”

The couple rescued Lucy while they were dating and she has always been a "daughter" to them. She came during a rough patch for the pair as they had lost their dog six months earlier and Josh also lost his job, so Lucy was the perfect companion and comfort especially when he started doing tricks around the house.

"I said, 'You know what? I don't have a job right now. I need something to keep me company,'" he explains. He started training Lucy to do tricks and fetch things around the house.

Josh's Advice to Dog Owners

Josh has this to say for anyone hoping to train their dogs to be as helpful as Lucy, and it involves lots of patience and positive reinforcement.

“A bond is really important, being close to your dog first and foremost. They want to do well for us. Give them the patience they need and, you know, reinforcing that positivity once they’re able to achieve what you want them to achieve.”
