A woman caused a commotion on social media after sharing she refused to babysit her nephew. The babysitting request came before and after her sister-in-law unexpectedly went into labor.

Ben, Jessica's brother, asked her to babysit his son. His wife, Megan, needed to go to the hospital but Jessica refused. The couple was able to arrange for a sitter. However, Megan went into labor two weeks earlier and the sitter had COVID.

Jessica Was Adamant

Ben begged Jessica again during the 'emergency' but she refused. She explained her husband was out of town and she had a lot of work. Jessica told them, "a lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine."

Ben had to leave his wife in labor alone at the hospital to watch his son at home. The infuriated couple threatened that Jessica will not get to meet her niece which she was okay with.

Per DailyMail, social media users slammed Jessica's behavior. One person asked how Jessica could be so uncaring of her own family. Another user called Jessica a 'terrible selfish family member.' One user wrote that calling early labor 'poor planning' was nasty. A third Redditor also wrote that they hope help does not come when Jessica needs it the most.

She Received Some Support

While some users slammed Jessica, some agreed with her. They wrote that she already made it clear from the onset that she does not like kids. Others felt it was her choice and it should be respected.

A British TV personality, Olivia Attwood, shared she did not think kids belong to weddings. The model's appearance on the podcast, Private Parts, was posted on TikTok. Attwood said kids at weddings were "absolutely unacceptable" for her.

She Explained Her Reason

She added that she does not have kids of her own. However, if she did, they would not be invited to weddings. The model talked about seeing kids holding onto a bride's dress which she called "little grubby chicken finger hands." She also compared kids' noises during vows to Jurassic Park noises. Attwood is engaged to Bradley Dack and has canceled her wedding twice.

A video showing her expressing her choice got over 953,000 views on TikTok and has been slammed by social media users. One user referred to Attwood's comment as harsh. Another said the model would change when she has kids.

More Deliberations on Attwood's Choice

Another viewer sarcastically wrote that a wedding does not include being surrounded by the most important people in a person's life. One user wrote Attwood does not understand because she has no kids of her own.

Some TikTok users, however, seem to agree with Attwood. A user wrote they had a kid but does not enjoy weddings when they go with him. Attwood is not the only one who thinks kids should be banned from weddings.

Someone Shared Their Child-free Wedding Experience

Last year, a Redditor claimed he told his sister-in-law and brother not to bring a kid to his child-free wedding. He relayed how he and his fiancée wanted a child-free event to keep things "organized and contained." He recalled using flash cards to explain his decision, but his brother and his wife were displeased.

The Siblings Had A Disagreement

The Reddit user shared that his brother tried convincing him to allow their little son to attend the wedding, but he stood his ground. This caused a rift in the family, but the netizen noted that he had his reason. A similar event happened in 2007 when a UK bride banned kids from her wedding. This was to avoid hearing crying noises in the background of her wedding video.

What An Expert Had To Say

Pennsylvania psychologist Natalie Bernstein relayed that she supported the decision made by these individuals. She stated that choosing not to invite kids to one's wedding was not a personal attack, but rather based on how a person wants the flow at their wedding to be.
