Netflix highest watching series Wednesday might be leaving the platform soon. Although the series is produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Netflix will want to keep Wednesday on its platform despite the possibility that it won't be able to.

The Addams Family spin-off has become one of its most popular series since it debuted on the streaming platform last year. If you have yet to see the series, let's help bring you up to speed if you haven't been able to follow any of it.

Jenna Ortega plays the 16-year-old goth in the eight-part series, which centers on her efforts to solve a murder mystery while attending Nevermore Academy. The dark series follows the titular Addams Family's daughter as she attempts to unravel a mystery involving a monster that is occurring at her school. As a defining character trait, Wednesday's renowned emotionlessness persists in the series.

Nothing Is Guaranteed

While critics have praised the series and Ortega's performance, the next chapter of the drama may not be available for Netflix subscribers to watch. Last year, a merger between Amazon and MGM for $8.5 billion (£7.06 billion) was announced by Deadline.

The rights also go to Amazon Prime, as Wednesday is an MGM production. Before closing your accounts, we want you to know that nothing is guaranteed, and neither party has made any declarations on the show's future. Therefore, we can only wait and watch what occurs in the second installment.

Beyond all expectations, Wednesday has flourished and established itself as a Netflix mainstay. Season 1 of The Addams Family has shattered multiple Netflix records since its premiere, and Ortega's portrayal of Wednesday has elevated the brand to new heights.

The first week of Wednesday saw 341.23 million hours of viewing, surpassing Stranger Things to become the most-watched English-language Netflix series ever. Just behind season 4 of the Millie Bobby Brown-starring drama, Wednesday season 1 recently overtook it as the second-most watched English-language Netflix series in history.
