Woman Calls For Adoption Help After Someone Abandons Dog By Her Door

While there are so many rescue dogs who can remain positive and loving after all they've been through, there usually isn't much we know about what life was like for them before they found help.

But considering the state that many of them are discovered in before they're brought to a shelter, we can be sure that the answer would be a long, sad story filled with cruelty beyond our comprehension.

However, some cases show that a rescue animal's history can be a little more complicated than that. Some animals are healthy enough upon discovery to give us the impression that they've been loved up to that point, but their previous owner sadly found out the hard way that love isn't always enough.

And while much of one dog's story still remains a mystery, the way her previous owner left her provides some telling clues that this was likely what happened in her case.

On December 19, Laís Chesine Monfrinato of Mairinque, Brazil posted a photo of a dog that was left hitched to a gate near her door on Facebook.

As we can see, the previous owner had also left a large bag of dog food and a blanket the pup presumably liked in the hopes that somebody else could take care of her.

And in case that didn't get the point across enough, this person also left a note.

As we can see, it's written in Portuguese, but it says, "I am sorry, please take care of her."

But while some would see this as a sad sign of the situation that whoever left it behind was in, Monfrinato didn't think there was any excuse for abandoning the dog like this.

In her words, "How a human being, if you can call a person that, can do this? You abandoned an animal and just walked away. They left this sweet girl at my home this morning."

But as sweet as the dog may have been, Monfrinato was in no more of a position to adopt her than the previous owner was to keep her.

According to Bored Panda, this is because she already has three adopted cats, which means her home doesn't have the appropriate space for another animal.

So instead, she called on any animal lovers among her Facebook friends who were in a more accommodating situation.

Fortunately, one of those friends would turn out to be her boss, Rosane Carraco.

And she was so moved by what she saw that she contacted Monfrinato on WhatsApp and told her she was happy to adopt the dog.

As Monfrinato said, "I didn’t think twice, because I know the affection and love that she and her family give to animals."

Carraco would end up taking the dog in by December 26 and named her Lua. And while she was worried that Lua wouldn't get along with her other dog Mel, the two quickly became best friends.

Lua still isn't quite used to her name, but that should change with time.
