Grandma Refuses To Let Her Granddaughter Inside Home Over Her Torn Jeans

Many young teenagers dress to fit in with trending styles on social media. One big trend among teenagers happens to be ripped jeans. While ripped jeans aren't appropriate for every situation, like work, teenage girls love wearing them when out and about.

However, not all older people and family members like the look of ripped jeans, as many feel they look "sloppy."

While it can be hard to keep up with changing fashion trends, it seems that as of right now, ripped jeans are back. The denim staple has been a favorite of teens and young adults for decades, much to the dismay of their parents and grandparents.

Teens and young adults love them because they are comfortable and give off a hint of a rebel vibe. However, older generations see them as too provocative. Plus, there's the age-old question of, "Why would anyone pay for damaged jeans?"

One grandmother decided to put her foot down about her granddaughter's ripped jeans.

Shared on Facebook by her granddaughter, the grandmother can be seen refusing to let her into the house because of the jeans she was wearing. Maedean Wilson-Brewer refused to let her granddaughter Jayla inside—citing that her pants were the reason.

Jayla obviously was upset by the entire situation.

Jayla told her grandmother she would call her mother, but her grandmother did not care. "I don’t care if you call your mother," her grandma said in the video. "She shouldn’t have let you come over here wearing those pants."

Jayla told her grandmother she hurt her feelings.

But, her grandmother didn't care. She double downed and said, "ain't your car still running?" Jayla then decided to go home and change so that she can come back to her grandmother's house. Her grandma called her tactics, "tough love."

People on social media praised Maedean for the tough love.

People on Facebook and social media absolutely loved this grandmother's tough love. Many said they also related to this, as their own grandparents and parents feel the same way about ripped jeans.

The video has been viewed thousands of times and was even featured by local news stations. Even though ripped jeans aren't exactly a new trend, the video sparked a debate about when it is appropriate to wear them. It's a conversation almost everyone has had at some point in their lives.

There were a lot of spirited comments on the Facebook post of the video.

While many couldn't resist joking about the situation, numerous comments praised Jayla's grandmother. Many people said our world could benefit from more tough love lessons from parents and grandparents.

What do you think?

It looks like ripped jeans and the debate surrounding them is here to stay. Do you think this grandmother went too far, or was her tough-love approach needed?

Who else has grandparents and parents who hate the ripped jeans look?!
