After finding himself in hot water over his controversial comments regarding transgendered children, Mario Lopez is saying sorry.

Mario Lopez is taking back the controversial comments he made about how children transitioning genders is "dangerous."

While the talk show host made these statements on the Candace Owens Show back in June, they've only resurfaced as of recently.

It all started when Owens brought up what she called a "weird trend" coming out of Hollywood.

By this, she was referring to how celebrities are letting their young children choose their gender too young.

While Owens isn't a mom, the conservative talk show host was a nanny for five years.

Because of this, she believes that young children don't have the "mental authority" to choose their own gender.

The celebrity she brought up as an example of this was actress Charlize Theron.

She's the single mom to two adopted children, Jackson and August.

Back in April, Theron made headlines for sharing the moment Jackson decided that she was a girl.

"Yes, I thought she was a boy, too," Theron told the Daily Mail.

"Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: 'I am not a boy!'"

"So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive."

So when Owens asked Lopez for his thoughts, the father of three didn't hold back.

"My God, if you're 3 years old, I just think it's dangerous as a parent to make this determination then."

"It's sort of alarming and my gosh, I just think about the repercussions later on."

"I think parents need to allow their kids to be kids, but at the same time, you gotta be the adult in the situation."

He also said that parents need to wait until the "formative years" to have these discussions about gender.

Like Owens, he believes kids don't have the mental authority to make life-changing decisions.

After clips of Mario's comments resurfaced, he found himself facing all sorts of backlash online.

Fans were even calling him "canceled."

Along with wondering how everything will affect his career.

The Saved by the Bell star recently joined Access Hollywood after working at Extra for years.

Even "Queer Eye's" Jonathan Van Ness weighed in.

Another Fab 5 member, Karamo Brown, also had some thoughts.

He said that he was "disappointed" in Mario's comments.

Now, the talk show host is trying to hit the reset button by backtracking on what he said.

He released a statement, apologizing for his "ignorance."

"The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were."

"I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself."

By the looks of Mario's social media since the apology, he's moving on from the ordeal.
