Tom Hanks Gives Update On His Health In Heartwarming Post

Earlier this week, Tom Hanks revealed on Instagram and Twitter that both he and his wife, Rita Wilson, had tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Fans, family, and friends sent their well-wishes to the Hanks', but in the meantime, Tom has done us all the favor of keeping us updated on his and Rita's health.

As of last week, the World Health Organization reported that the global number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 had surpassed 100 000.

The death toll, globally, of the coronavirus pandemic has jumped to 5043.

3176 people have died in mainland China, 1016 in Italy and 514 in Iran — the three countries with the highest fatalities due to the virus.

Schools are being shut down, social gatherings such as conferences, concerts, and festivals are being canceled or postponed, and the NBA and NHL have both suspended their seasons.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Coronavirus targeted its first Hollywood victims, Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson.

He took to social media to alert his followers that, after feeling under the weather, he and Rita tested positive for the virus.

"Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia," Tom wrote.

"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went."

"Slight fevers too," he added.

To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus," he explained.

"And were found to be positive."

"Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed," he went on.

"We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires."

"Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!," he concluded.

Tom's announcement quickly went viral, prompting tons of well-wishes.

Marlon Wayan's kept things light, jokingly suggesting that being the first "Hollywood Caronavirus" is an achievement.

I'm sure at a time like this, Tom and Rita could definitely appreciate a morale boost!

His 'Toy Story' costar, Tim Allen, also reached out to show his support on social media.

"Woody, I should have made you two wear my space suits! You and Rita rest and get well!," he wrote.

"I told Tom and Rita that Buzz offered them a couple of spacesuits if they need them!," he wrote in another tweet.

"Seriously rest up and get well!," he concluded.

I think at this point we could all use one of Tom Allen's spacesuits. Medical masks don't seem to be cutting it! Plus, they're all sold out.

Anyway, a few days ago, Hanks followed up with his followers, giving them an update on how he and Rita are holding up.

The pair seem to be in good spirits!

"Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us," he wrote.

"We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else."

He explained that their hope is not to spread it to anyone who could react badly to it.

"There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness," he wrote.

"We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this," he continued.

"... by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?"

"Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx," he concluded.

Then, a few days later, he posted something on his Twitter that sent Australia into a frenzy!

"Thanks to the Helpers. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other. Hanx"

But fans had some OPINIONS on what he was eating.

Seriously, a lot of people went off about the vegemite.

Even Rita Wilson sent out a tweet, but it was less of an update and more of a cry for help.

She asked fans to help her make a playlist of songs to get her through this tough time!

The playlist has 32 songs, which should be more than enough to get you in the mood to dance and sing.

It includes amazing isolation songs like, Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" and Destiny Child's "Survivor".

And you can actually listen to her playlist while you are in isolation alongside the Hanks'!

You can listen to it here.

We hope for a speedy recovery for all those who have the virus!
