Miley Cyrus debuted a new power anthem alongside her long-awaited eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, and it's everything fans desire. River is as upbeat as Flowers and tells the same story of moving on from heartbreak.

What's 'River' About?

River is a steamy single with suggestive lyrics and a racy video to match. The singer enlisted 14 shirtless men as her backup dancers while she stunned in a minidress with her signature skunk hair.

Getting Support From 14 Men

Unlike her smash hit Wrecking Ball which saw Cyrus swinging naked on a wrecking ball as she sang about her break up from Liam Hemsworth, the singer left the stripping to her supporting acts.

Opening Up Further With 'River'

Cyrus bared her heart out in River as she told her listeners about how her divorce from Hemworth hasn't destroyed her belief in love and forever. The 30-year-old sang that,

"[Her] heart beats so loud that it's drowning [her] out..."

Dancing In The Rain

As Cyrus belted out the heartbreaking lyrics, her 14 shirtless backup dancers appeared in the background. Watch the video below.

Not Giving Up On Love

Cyrus' music lyrics spoke about not meeting a lover's expectation while she wished for a life with them, including having their children. She ended the music video with a sultry dance in the rain while her male dancers surrounded her.

Hemsworth was the first boy Cyrus dated after meeting on the set of The Last Song. After being sheltered during her Hannah Montana phase, the actress didn't want to admit he was her first real relationship and kiss.

The First Break Up

The couple had their first break up in August 2010, only for them to recouple within a month. Their representatives said Hemsworth and Cyrus couldn't stay apart and decided to give their romance another try, only to split up two months later.

In 2013, after months of rumors about their breakup, Cyrus shocked the world with her record-breaking breakup anthem, Wrecking Ball. She spiced up the music video and broke bricks in her birthday suit.

Long Engagement Post-Reunion

Rumors started swirling about Cyrus and Hemsworth getting back together two years after calling off their engagement. They announced a second engagement in January of that year but waited until 2018 to get married.

Hemsworth and Cyrus secretly married in 2018 after their 2-year engagement but didn't confirm it until December. All seemed well in their romance until fans found out it wasn't a fairytale. Like their on/off boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, the couple split within months of getting married.

Hemsworth filed for divorce in 2019 after some months of separation, causing Cyrus great disappointment. The singer thought they were working through their differences until the Australian actor cited irreconcilable differences.

Cyrus Breaks Her Silence

Cyrus opened up about her broken marriage and relationship with Hemsworth in 2020 saying she hated it being a public affair. The singer said,

"What really sucked about it wasn't the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don't love each other the way that we used to anymore... I can't accept the villainizing and just all the stories."

Moving On From Each Other

Cyrus took the brunt of the disappointment from the media and fans, as many people painted her as the cause of the failure. The ex-couple moved on with other people, with Cyrus getting into off/on relationships and Hemsworth dating Gabriella Brooks since 2019.

Breaking Records

Cyrus sang about her heartbreak in her first lead single for Endless Summer Vacation, Flowers and it resonated with fans worldwide.

'Flowers' Is The Number One Song In America

Flowers is a self-love anthem which broke many Spotify streaming records and currently has 654 million plus streams despite being released in January, 2023.

Rumors About Flowers

The greatest appeal of Flowers for Smilers (Miley's fans) is its connection to Hemsworth. They created several conspiracy theories about the music video including her outfit and locations.
