Blake Shelton Ending Voice Coaching Run, Coaches React

Shelton seems to use every opportunity to remind his fellow coaches that season 23 of The Voice was his final season. He recently sat down with the season's coaches, Kelly Clarkson, Cassie DiLaura, Chance the Rapper, and Niall Horan as they joined ET's Vassie DiLaura.

The coaches were talking about the upcoming season 24 of the NBS competition. Shelton made sure to clarify that season 23 was going to be his last season on the show. 

He stated that he had mentioned it a couple of times while going on to recall the times he declared his exit from the show. Shelton noted, "I mentioned it in the Blinds because you gotta remember, every artist that comes up there didn't hear what we said the last time. So I just wanted everyone to be aware."

The 46-year-old's reaffirmation of his last season was something his fellow coaches were accustomed to hearing. After he clarified that he would not be joining season 24, Clarkson jokingly reacted with an eye roll, while adding that all 80 contestants already knew the drill.

However, the talk show host admitted she was happy to be part of his last season. Although Clarkson is excited to be part of The Cowboy's last go-round, she would not let it affect her competitive side.

She relayed that if the country music crooner won the season, she would be happy for him because it would be "super cool" for him to end his stint in such a grand style. The TV star went on to add that she was not rooting for him but would be happy if he did win.

The show's new coaches, Chance and Horan who joined The Voice as new coaches, also added that they are also ready for the competition. Speaking about the journey through the talent show, Chance noted that it had been "awesome."

Horan also opened up on joining the show as he noted that his goal was to nurture the budding singers who would be competing. Horan recalled how he was once in the same position as competitors on The X Factor UK, before forging his path with One Direction. He relayed, "I know exactly what it's like to be [on a show like this], especially for the younger ones. Like, I was on that show when I was 16, so I know exactly how it feels... I just want to nurture them a little bit and kind of make sure [they] enjoy it."

It is no news that Shelton will be quitting The Voice, which started in 2011, after being there for over two decades. The country singer has been the only coach to appear in 23 seasons of the singing competition.

While speaking with People last fall, the Ol' Red singer credited the show for boosting his career. He revealed that he started the show 10 years into his country artist career. Shelton said he did not make it into the A-list country artist until he became a coach. Shelton added that he has exceeded his expectations in the entertainment industry. 

The Home singer announced last fall that he would be quitting The Voice after season 23. However, his announcement did not come without an explanation. The Austin singer revealed that he wanted to push some work stuff out and let personal life and family in.

Although he launched a celebrity drinking game show, Bargeddom, with fellow star Carson Daly, Shelton still thinks of slowing down. Shelton's personal life includes his wife and fellow coach, Gwen Stefani. It also includes her three sons, Apollo, 8, Zuma, 14, and Kingston, 16 who she shared with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale.

The Honey Bee singer added that the most important thing in his life was spending time with their kids. He took a philosophical approach as he noted that he has made enough money, but time was something he could not buy back.

He and Stefani reside in their Oklahoma home where they enjoy a quiet life. He stated he and his wife have done "so much traveling and touring and work for the first half" of their lives, and now they are satisfied with relaxing a bit.

Shelton and Stefani's love is still waxing stronger after nine years since they first met. The musicians met on The Voice in 2014 as coaches. Their dating history kicked off the following year. The couple decided to lock things down during the pandemic and had a private and intimate wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony took place in 2021 at their Oklahoma ranch. Also, Stefani's sons became close to Shelton as they acted as best men. The proud mom also had the names of her sons and Shelton embroidered into her veil. 

A year after the couple tied the knot, they shared an insight into their family. The No Doubt star shared that Shelton loved to make new family Christmas traditions yearly. The Wind It Up singer added that every year since she met him, they make a timpani dome.

Stefani explained that it was an Italian dome that was like a lasagna within a pizza. Also in 2022, Shelton revealed he was prioritizing his family life and quitting his coaching job. 

In December 2022, Shelton talked about his parenting journey as a stepdad. The Some Beach singer shared that his kids taught him something about himself he did not know about. Shelton revealed that the kids taught him he was someone they could lean on. He added that he has never had such a responsibility before. Shelton concluded that what mattered most to him was investing in his family.
