It's been a few months since Paul Pelosi went to the hospital in critical condition following a violent home invasion. The news broke in October that the husband of the former house speaker, Nancy Pelosi, suffered a violent attack in the comfort of his home.

People didn't know the gravity of the situation until a San Francisco court ruled for the District Attorney's office to publicize the body camera footage.

First Responders Encounter A Tense Situation

The video's release caused a stir on the internet because of its violent nature. It showed the accused, David DePape, and Mr. Pelosi holding a hammer as the police responded to a house call.

DePape Attacks Mr. Pelosi

However, when the officers asked DePape to drop the hammer, he directed it at Mr. Pelosi forcefully. After knocking the businessman down, the police jumped in to defuse the situation.

They flipped DePape on his belly and read his rights while restraining him. Meanwhile, Mr. Pelosi lay on the floor, incapacitated and needing medical help.

The video is part of the evidence used in the criminal case against DePape. According to court documents from last year, Mr. Pelosi wasn't his target but the former speaker and current Californian congresswoman.

DePape planned to hold her hostage and torture her for information as he was "sick of the lies coming out of Washington D.C."

DePape Didn't Care About Consequences

When asked if he worried about getting arrested for a home invasion and deadly assault, the accused reportedly confirmed he was on a suicide mission. He entered the Pelosis' Pacific Heights home through the rear door by breaking the glass with his hammer.

The former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, is upset at the footage being public as she said,

"[I have] absolutely no intention of seeing the deadly assault on my husband's life."

Appreciating The Public's Support

Although the congresswoman thanked the public for supporting her family through this ordeal, she closed the door on further statements saying it was the end of engagement for her. Instead, the rest would happen in court.

Former Speaker Pelosi is willing to share updates on her husband's health with the public and keep thanking them, but that's where the statements and engagements end.
