In a statement, Blige expressed excitement, saying, “Being able to now create together, for them to be so supportive of my vision for the type of content I will create, is something I am grateful and excited for. We already have multiple projects in the works and there is much more to come."

Music Programming & Music Strategy's Connie Orlando said that BET is “proud to supercharge” its portfolio via its dealings with Blue Butterfly. “Throughout her legendary career, Mary has blazed trails to become a global superstar,” Orlando continued. Blue Butterfly Productions was founded by Mary in 2019 and also has a first-look scripted TV deal in the works with Lionsgate Television. The Grammy winner has stated that she feels BET has been one of her "biggest supporters" across her career, one now spanning multiple decades.

Still Hugely Popular

Mary J Blige's popularity was evident as she performed alongside the likes of Rap God star Eminem and legendary hip-hop face Snoop Dogg at the 2022 Super Bowl Half-Time Show. Blige is herself a recipient of Grammys including Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album. She also won the 2022 Billboard Icon Award this year. Back in 2006, she snagged the BET Award for Video of the Year.
