By now you know that Rebel Wilson went through a "Year of Health" in order to achieve her weight loss goal.

But what you might not know is that it was about more than just losing weight to get healthy for her current self. The Senior Year and Pitch Perfect star admitted that it's actually because she wants to start a family and have children!

Rebel Wilson's "Year of Health" is all about preparing for the future of parenthood.

The actress recently opened up to People about how the idea of having children inspired her weight loss journey. This was super surprising for fans to read in the new interview.

Back in 2019, Wilson went to go see a fertility doctor.

She wanted to freeze her eggs and talked about the journey that she wanted to make to parenthood, and the doctor informed her that losing weight would help her out a lot.

“He looked me up and down and said, ‘You’d do much better if you were healthier,'” she said.

“I was taken aback. I thought, Oh God, this’s guy’s so rude. He was right,”

“I was carrying around a lot of excess weight. It’s almost like I didn’t think of my own needs."

"I thought of a future child’s needs that really inspired me to get healthier.”

So, she decided to go ahead and do just that, and ended up losing over 80 pounds. “It wasn’t a goal to get to a certain weight. It was just being the healthiest version of myself.”

And by the healthiest version of herself, she means it in every way possible.

It was about more than just eating and working out in the right ways, it was also about making sure she was in the best place, mentally.

“It was about dealing with the emotional issues that caused me to emotionally eat, and that’s a process,” she said.

“You cry a lot, analyze things. I’d never done that before. It’s really hard to know why you don’t feel worthy when people look at my life on paper and say you’ve done all these amazing things. That’s what I’m trying to overcome.”

And because of her own personal journey, it has made her an even larger lover of body positivity.

But that being said, she was always promoting loving yourself since day one. Especially once people fell in love with Fat Amy from Pitch Perfect.

“Fat Amy was probably the most favorite character I’ve ever played,” she said.

“I loved representing and I was so confident. But at the same time, I did feel at times insecure. Sometimes it’s hard doing a photoshoot next to your fellow actress and she’s a third of the size of you."

“I was invisible in a way, even when I was an international movie star." the actress said.

"And then suddenly to have people want to carry your groceries, do nice things for you purely because of how you look, it’s interesting.”

That being said, now she knows both sides of the line.

She knows how the world views people no matter what their weight is. This is why she's trying to make sure we all work on being a little kinder to people (and themselves) in general, which ultimately is the most important thing.

“I know what it’s like to be on the other side of that coin."

"And now I know what’s it’s like to get attention in the positive. There is a societal bias towards what society deems as good-looking. It’s not right. It sucks, it’s unfair. I feel sad if somebody doesn’t love the body they’re in. You want to celebrate all body types but I also want to encourage people to be healthy.”

You go Rebel!
