When you're a celebrity, concessions are often made to accommodate special requests. In Kim Kardashian's case, there was an exception made by Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Hollywood, California, to lend her an iconic Marilyn Monroe dress that Kardashian was allowed to wear to the Met Gala, albeit briefly.

However, it has now come to light that the dress was allegedly damaged by the affair, and people can't help but roast Kardashian for it by sharing pictures of other dresses she should keep her paws off, ha, ha.

Here's what the whole hoopla is all about.

Marilyn Monroe famously wore a special dress made just for her to serenade then-president John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday in 1962. It's an iconic moment in history, that's for sure, and so is the dress she had on.

Marilyn Monroe's dress has been preserved for 60 years.

Nobody has worn it since then. So it was strange that Kim Kardashian showed up in it at the recent Met Gala. Apparently, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum obtained the dress in an auction for $4.81-million and had it on display.

But they decided to loan the dress to Kim Kardashian to wear on the Met Gala red carpet.

She only wore it for a few minutes and then slipped into a replica. However, once the dress got back to Ripley's, the damage was allegedly done.

Apparently, there are visible signs of damage on the dress now.

The dress, which was made of a delicate silk soufflé fabric, appears to be missing crystals. It also seems to have several small rips along the zipper seam, according to visual artist and creative director Chad Michael Morrisette, who visited the dress on display at Ripley's following the Met Gala.

So now people are taking jabs at Kardashian for ruining an icon's dress.

And they're having some fun with it on Twitter. They're basically posting pictures of other famous dresses and saying "hands-off" before the Kardashian ruins yet another gown, lol.

Here are just a few examples that made me laugh:

Oh my goodness, who is that? I have no idea, haha, but that dress is a no for me. However, I do love the bedazzled bodice. It's gorgeous. Kim Kardashian, stay away from it!

This is a good one.

Here's somebody's favorite outfit that Lorde wore they want Kardashian to leave alone. Is that tin foil? What is it exactly? Is it a dress, a jumpsuit, or some sort of combination of both?

Let's throw Snooki into this.

Remember when she wore this? Oh, yeah, that sure made a statement, ha, ha. What kind of statement, I'm not sure. But I bet some people tried to find the same dress so they could wear it.

OMG, what is this?

My first question is — why would you wear that out? I guess she's just poking fun at the whole dressing up for the red carpet, no? If that's the case then, I totally get it.

Who can forget this gem here?

If you're going to ruin a famous dress why couldn't you just pick this? Am I right? Björk definitely walks to the beat of her own drum so that's what Kim Kardashian should do, too.

Speaking of crazy outfits, this one still stands out.

I would like to see Kim Kardashian try this look next. What do you think about that, huh? Are you digging the idea? Come on! Why not? I think she can pull it off.

Some people are really upset.

And they're saying it's not just about the dress. It's the fact that an iconic piece of history was taken out of a museum to be worn by a reality show star. And why? Only for a publicity stunt.

Perhaps she could have worn this instead.

Ha, ha! But no, it wouldn't be good enough for the likes of Kim Kardashian. On, no! Instead, she got a dress worn by a true icon like Marilyn Monroe and ruined it forever.

There's also this point.

The original dress that Marilyn wore was sculpted to her body. That way, it would fit her like a glove. Honestly, no matter how much weight Kardashian did lose, it still wouldn't fit her like it did Marilyn — period.

Take that Kim!

Oh, you know we would never see her wear this dress. Here's a thought, Kim — if you have all that money, why not just have a replica made? Oh, you did? So why did you have to wear the original dress in the first place?

Here's a little bit of bitter truth.

I don't know if you agree with this, but I have to say I do. Marilyn Monroe didn't set out to be an icon, but she became one. Kim is trying to replicate that, but sadly it isn't the same case. Heck, no!

If Kim wants to take someone on why not JLo?

What do you think of this dress for Kim to try on? Do you think it would look better on her or Jennifer here? Hmm, I don't know. Some dresses should just be left as they were worn by the original person. And that's the point, no?

I think part of the blame should be put on Ripley's too.

After all, they had the dress in their collection and decided to loan it away to Kim Kardashian. This is a piece of history we're talking about that can't be replaced as both the crystals and the fabric doesn't exist anymore.

So what do you think about this latest Kim Kardashian controversy?

Is she deserving of all the ridicule and hate she's getting from people? I don't think Ripley's should have loaned the dress in the first place. It was meant to be worn by Marilyn Monroe and nobody else — case closed. That's how I feel about it anyway.
