30 Good Ideas People Discovered And Shared Online

There are some pretty cool ideas out there. Like, actual amazing ideas that could really change things. And as always, when people find ideas they like, they post them online.

These ideas, cool designs, and other awesome things are pretty darn clever. In fact, I'd even say they're downright genius. Don't believe me? Take a look at this list and see for yourself.

"This vending machine that sells BOOKS!"

Why put books in a vending machine? Why not!? Books are great, and everyone should have access to them if they want to read. Maybe this'll help people beat boredom if they're stuck in a waiting room, or a long line, or any other time they'd want to read.

"This chair shaped bag hanger."

This little design is actually so neat. It's no better than a regular hanger, it just looks cooler. It goes to show that a nice design can make a huge difference in a space, because it makes things so much more interesting.

This really cool cooking pan.

I don't know if this would really have a difference on how something is prepared, but look. It's cool. I've never seen anything quite like it, which makes it super unique and amazing. And I kind of want one. I would totally try cooking with it.

"My daughter’s bicycle clarifying the difference between Austria and Australia."

Some people out there need to know the difference (like I did when I was in grade school). Something like this would be really helpful, since really shows you the difference between the two countries (even if it does it in a funny, kind of snarky way).

"A place selling only fire extinguishers."

I'm not sure how much of a market there is for fire extinguishers, but I definitely think this should be a thing. Fire extinguishers are really great to have in an emergency, and some places may need bigger ones than others. So this is one prime business to be in.

"The airport I’m at has a doggy relief centre."

This... is actually kind of genius. If you're traveling with your pet, you need to take as many opportunities as you can to make sure their bladders are emptied. Especially if they have to be crated for super long flights. Great idea!

"My beer has a line to pick off to get rid of the label."

Some people really hate labels on cans and bottles. The people who make this kind of beer clearly know the struggle, since they opted to make a label that's easy to peel off. I wonder why more companies don't do things like this.

This giant storage unit for boats.

I don't own a boat, so I have no idea what storing them is like. I do know, though, that many people in my neighborhood like to keep their boats on their driveways, and could probably use a storage unit like this (unless they just like showing off).

"Our forklift now has pedestrian boundary lights projected from it."

This is such a great safety feature! Forklifts can be so dangerous, and some customers have little spatial awareness when one comes by them at a store. This would really help the customer and the employee who's using the forklift.

A traffic light that lets you know when you can pull a U-turn.

Usually, I see signs telling me not to make a U-turn at certain intersections and stuff. Which is just annoying because how else am I supposed to turn my car around?

We need these in more places. We need more chances to U-turn.

"IV bag plant watering thing I saw at my Doctor's office."

This may be more of a cool design than a cool idea, but the point still stands. This is a pretty genius way to water a plant, especially in a doctor's office. It's, like, thematic. The kind of thing that shows you this doctor has an eye for detail.

This online quiz that knows people make spelling mistakes from time to time.

This looks like it would be part of a science quiz, which means it shouldn't have to take points away for spelling. It's nice that the programmer who made this took some common misspellings of the word "diffusion" into account, since scientists aren't always the best at spelling.

"Solar park bench with USB charging ports."

Wow, now that's what I call amazing! Not only can you charge your phone from a bench, but the energy that's used to charge it comes from solar power! Talk about living in the year 3021, because this is truly ahead of its time.

"Press for size change."

This is actually such a genius idea. This would make trying on clothes so much easier because you wouldn't have to hunt an associate down while you're in the middle of changing. We could seriously use these in every clothing store. They'd truly change the game.

"Natural gas company sent out a scratch and sniff, yes it smells like natural gas."

I'm sure most of us know what natural gas smells like, but I think this is a really good reminder. Smelling gas in your house is no joke, so it's good to remember to keep an eye (or nose) out from time to time.

"Toilet paper button."

This needs to be in every restroom. Literally all of them. Public restrooms, your own toilet at home, everywhere. It would save a lot of embarrassment and wasted time waiting, hoping that someone will come by and get you a strip of TP when you need it the most.

This set of steps that also double as a ramp.

I actually can't get over how genius this is. These steps are also a ramp. It's the best of both worlds; everyone who wants to get into this store can get there.

Now we just need this kind of design everywhere.

"The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio has goalposts for their power lines."

I can't help but love cool and clever design ideas. I think they're the best kinds of ideas anyone can have. Sure, this powerline isn't any better than a normal one. It just looks cooler, and sometimes looks are all that matter.

"This helpful little sign telling you the easiest way out of my local Dunkin’ Donuts."

More places should have signs like this. Even though locals know the ins and outs of their shops and restaurants, not everyone is a local. Some people are new to town, and others are just passing by. So they'd probably love something like this outside of a drive thru.

"This holder for my Oreos."

This is a genius idea that will help millions of Oreo lovers around the world. It keeps the cookies nice and close to the milk, all while leaving your hand free for other things. And you can use it left- or right-handed! Give me one, stat!

"A gas station in my country uses gas pump handles as door handles for their restrooms."

I'm not sure how often gas pump handles break, but I feel like this would be a really cool way to reuse those handles when they're no longer fit for pumping gas. I dunno, it just seems like a really neat idea to me.

"Concrete, WA high school is built over the roadway that leads to it."

That's actually so cool. I've seen fast food places in overpass bridges/pathways, but I've never seen a school built above a road like this. It seems like it would really save on space, which would be great for the surrounding wildlife.

"The ingredients on the back of this tube of toothpaste include a list of where they come from and what they do."

I feel like most of us use toothpaste without actually knowing what's in it. Which is mostly fine, but what if you have an allergy to it without knowing?

I think this is a really nice idea.

"A fellow coworker and I burned a checkerboard into the stump of an old tree. We played the first game with dandelion and clover flowers."

Okay, this is just too adorable! I wish I had a tree stump chess board. It doesn't even matter that I'm bad at chess. I want it!!

"Vending machine in my mall filled with diapers kids snack and other kid conveniences."

Vending machines with specialized items in them should be a thing everywhere. Something like this, with a bunch of things that would help parents of babies and toddlers, would be really great in, like, a clinic waiting room or something.

"Subway’s World Headquarters is actually located on Sub Way."

Huh, very clever, Subway. I wonder if they got to name that street themselves, or if they found an actual street called Sub Way (probably the former, I'd guess). It makes me wonder what other companies could create their own street names...

"In Finland, we have racks that heat up for drying towels and to prevent mold formation after taking a shower."

This is such a cool idea. Of course it came from Finland; a place that I feel is always doing some super cool, innovative things.

Can, uh, I get one of these for my bathroom? Please?

"This ball made of honey which you can drop in you tea."

This is so cool! You'd never have to worry about a bottle or jar of honey going hard again, as long as you had honey balls instead. Since they'd dissolve in a hot drink anyway, it wouldn't even matter! This, I can totally get behind.

"I use an upside down metal dish rack to keep my Tupperware from flipping upside down in the dishwasher."

You know what I hate? Tupperware and lids getting full of gross, soapy water after they'd been put in the dishwasher. At least this method would seriously stop that from happening. A genius solution to an age-old problem.

"In the UK, some supermarket’s fresh meat is sealed in security boxes due to a high theft rate."

I... wasn't aware this was a problem anywhere in the world, but I guess it makes sense. And hey, if they can seal steaks in security boxes, they can probably seal a bunch of other things, too. Which opens up so many more possibilities.
