Shakira Said She Was Attacked By Wild Boars In Tense Video

If it seems to you like the world's problems have become stranger over the past few years, you're not alone.

But while we've had more than our share of worrying absurdities stateside, the BBC reported that most of Europe is now seeing widespread and frustrating encounters with wild boars.

It's hardly unheard of for wild animals to suddenly find their way in our homes, but this problem is escalating over there as the 10 million boars found throughout the continent are increasingly wandering its cities and eating the garbage of its citizens.

That may not sound so bad, but these boars are known to potentially carry a wide variety of diseases and can adapt to a nearly all of the world's environments, making them one of its most invasive species.

And as a recent video from an unlikely source illustrates, they can be pretty aggressive to boot.

On September 29, pop star Shakira posted an Instagram story showing a large bag in a dirty and damaged state.

As she said in Spanish, "Look at how the two wild boars that attacked me in the park have left my bag."

According to ET Canada, this park was located in Barcelona and she was on a walk with her son Milan when the boars appeared.

Although I've mentioned that these boars have become a nuisance throughout Europe, it seems that Barcelona has been hit particularly hard by their presence.

As the BBC reported, police there received 1,187 calls in 2016 alone reporting incidents that saw boars attack people's dogs, get into their cat feeders, and run into their cars while holding up traffic.

In Shakira's case, it seems that the duo that confronted her were particularly interested in her bag.

She said that after the initial attack, "They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it. They destroyed everything."

Throughout the video, she showed off the extent of the damage.

But while this no doubt came as an unnerving surprise, it seems that Shakira was able to stand her ground.

Calling out to her son, she said, "Milan, tell the truth! Say how your mum stood up to the wild boar!"

While we don't hear any response from him during the clip available here, the fact that she managed to retrieve her bag at all makes it pretty clear that she didn't let the boars bully her.
