Ariana Grande In Hot Water After Joke About JonBenét Ramsey

There are just some things you should never joke about — and the murder of a little girl is definitely one of them.

This is the reality singer Ariana Grande is currently facing, as she's being dragged online for her insensitive comments.

With all her chart-smashing hits, Ariana Grande may be one of the biggest stars out there, rn.

But that doesn't make her immune from making people mad sometimes.

Take the infamous #DoughnutGate, for example.

The "Thank U, Next" singer made headlines when Ari and her ex-bf/backup dancer, Ricky Avarez appeared to lick donuts at a donut shop.

While it could be argued that some people would pay extra for an Ariana Grande-licked donut, most people were pissed.

She ended up apologizing several times over the incident, including while on Good Morning America.

"My behavior was very offensive and I apologized."

There was more she had to apologize for as she also made some controversial remarks about America.

When the donut shop employee brought over a tray of donuts, Ari gave a disgusted look and said, "What the [expletive] is that? I hate Americans. I hate America."

Following the backlash, Ariana issued out a separate apology.

"I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American," she tweeted at the time.

"What I said in a private moment ... was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words."

She didn't exactly make things better when she explained that her comments were about the rising rates of child obesity in America.

Regardless, her fans seemed to forgive her.

The hashtag #WeForgiveYouAriana even began trending.

Now, Ariana is in trouble over her words again.

This time, for making a very unnecessary joke about JonBenét Ramsey.

If you didn't know, JonBenét Ramsey was a six-year-old beauty queen who was murdered the day after Christmas in 1996.

Her case remains one of the world's most mysterious unsolved murders.

So, yeah, given the fact that JonBenét was brutally murdered, Ariana was wrong for joking about it.

The whole controversy started when Doug Middlebrook, a friend of Ari's, posted a picture of JonBenét on the cover of a tabloid.

He captioned it: "No one has ever done more covers," which was strange.

But even more strange was Ari's comment.

"I can’t WAIT for this to be your Halloween look,” she commented, along with a black heart emoji.

Say what now?

Doug replied, "working on it."

Um, not okay.

Ever since this mega-insensitive exchange happened, fans took screenshots and have been dragging Ari ever since.

Ari's comments definitely crossed the line.

Fans felt it was super insensitive and tasteless.

What WAS she thinking???

Soon after, Ari took to Twitter to apologize for the whole thing, adding that she deleted the comment "very quickly."

"this was out of pocket and i sincerly apologize."

Thing is, though — as several people pointed out — her comment was up for a day before deleting it.

Yikes.

Some fans did commend her for addressing it and not just letting it blow over.

I hope she did learn!

Regardless of the mess, it's onwards and upwards for the singer.

She's been busy promoting her new single "Boyfriend".

Do you think Ari needs to own up more to this mistake, or should all be forgiven?
