Jimmy Kimmel Smelled Gwyneth Paltrow's Vagina Candle And Things Got Weird

Gwyneth Paltrow swung by Jimmy Kimmel Live, and while things usually get a little weird on that show in one way or another.

This time it was because Jimmy took a wif of Gwyneth's recently released "vagina scented" candle, and fans can hardly handle it.

In case you've been living under a rock and are just hearing about this for the first time right now, Gwyneth Paltrow released a "vagina scented" candle last month.

I'll give you a moment to process that information.

Within days of Gwyneth releasing her $75 candle called, "This Smells Like My Vagina", on Goop and Heretic, it sold out.

Who in their right mind would spend $75 on a candle? Reasonable question.

Evidently, enough people to sell out of the product entirely.

BTW, the candle doesn't actually smell like her vagina — I mean, there's no way to know that for sure, but its scent is described as a “funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent".

I find the words used to describe the smell rather peculiar...

"Funny" and "unexpected" are two words I would ideally not want a lit candle in my apartment to smell like. But ok.

The candle contains notes of “geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed.”

This honestly sounds like it could smell pretty great. Probably nothing like Gwyneth's — or anybody's vagina.

But I'm still not so sure about the use of the word "funny" in the description. It's really throwing me off.

I digress! The story behind how the candle got its name is pretty straightforward.

"She was collaborating with perfumer, Douglas Little, on a new fragrance".

"And during a test-run of one of the scent samples, Gwyneth said: "Uhhh...this smells like a vagina."

And thus, the product officially had a name — one with extreme shock-value.

Gwyneth really stirred the pot with this one! The Internet has, naturally, been in a frenzy over it ever since.

Anyway, Gwyn recently stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to discuss her upcoming Netflix show, "The Goop Lab", and you could say, things got interesting...

As expected, Jimmy wanted to talk about the infamous candle.

"One day, we were smelling different fragrances and I was joking around, and I smelled something and I said…," Gwyneth explained.

"As a joke!," she added.

"But then I was like, wouldn't that be cool if somebody actually had the guts to do that?"

"What a punk-rock, feminist statement, to have that on your table," she continued.

"And then he made it. I thought he just made me one as a joke, but then the next thing I knew, it was on my website."

("He" is the aforementioned Douglas Little, btw).

Gwyneth's explanation simply wasn't going to suffice, however. Jimmy needed to smell it for himself.

And rather than just sniffing the wax like a normal person, he actually lit the candle as well.

Jimmy described the scent as being "masculine".

"Well, it's not really supposed to smell like a vagina," Gwyn interrupted — confirming that the name of the candle is just that, a name.

"I think a lot of women have grown up with a certain degree of shame or embarrassment around this part."

She went on to make some very valid, feminist points that had very little to do with her candle, but were interesting nonetheless!

I know I won't be spending $75 on a candle in this lifetime, but good for Gwyn for thinking outside the box. You go, girl!
