Keanu Reeves Gets Emotional Over Loss of Lance Reddick

The passing of actor Lance Reddick last week shocked and grieved people worldwide. According to reports, the actor died on March 17 at his Los Angeles home from natural causes.

In the movies, Reddick plays Charon, the concierge of The Continental, a hotel where assassins stay in between assignments. In the latest outing, John Wick: Chapter 4, the actor sadly missed the much-awaited movie's release due to his untimely demise.

His co-stars used the film's premiere as an opportunity to remember the late actor, breaking down in tears on the red carpet.

Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Ian McShane, among others, were seen wearing blue ribbons as a tribute to Reddick at the movie's premiere on Monday.

A note was distributed with the ribbons, which said, "We kindly ask you to wear this royal blue ribbon in honor of our dear friend Lance Reddick," according to TMZ. 

The late star's favorite color was blue. Therefore that's why it was picked.

It was a heartwarming display of support and affection for Reddick, whose loss undoubtedly threw a sorrowful veil over the occasion.

Reddick has played a significant role in the popular action franchise John Wick from the start, making appearances in all of the movies, and has been scheduled to feature in the spinoff Ballerina.

Following Reddick's death, Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski revealed that the fourth installment of John Wick would be dedicated to their late friend and coworker, Reddick.

In an interview with Deadline, Reeves said, "Lance was a beautiful person, a special artist… a man of grace and dignity… such a passion for his craft."

He added, "To have had the chance to work with him over the ten years and four films… is something very special to me. It f---ing sucks he's not here."

This is not the first time he has discussed his co-tragic star's passing; after his death, he and director Chad Stahelski issued a joint statement to Variety expressing their sympathies to his family. They said:

"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at losing our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife, Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."

In an interview with ET, he commented on his legacy, describing Reddick as a shining light.

The 58-year-old actor wore a navy blue collared shirt underneath a black suit with a matching tie. He wore a blue ribbon on his lapel in Reddick's honor.

Keanu Reeves frequently prefers to maintain a low profile in his personal and professional life. He never holds back from sharing his actual feelings, though, for someone he truly values.

In a statement, Reddick's publicist Mia Hansen announced his abrupt death on Friday morning from natural causes.

Reddick and Stephanie have been married since 2011, and Stephanie offered a tribute to her late husband on his verified social media sites. She also thanked his followers for their sympathy.

"Lance was taken from us way too soon," she posted on Instagram on Saturday with four images of the John Wick actor, one of which was Commander Zavala from the "Destiny" video game.

Several celebrities, including James Gunn, Michael Connelly, and Wendell Pierce, came to mourn for him shortly after his death was announced. He was an outsider, but he was still able to establish himself as a top performer.
