Andy Cohen's temper flared up during the filming of the Real Housewives of Miami Season 5 reunion when Larsa Pippen, whom he referred to as an "a-hole," made a comment that he perceived as offensive.
When the second part of the reunion aired in March 2023, Cohen spoke to People magazine about why he lost his cool with Pippen on camera, which led to headlines at the time about the reported confrontation set to air two months later.
“I usually don’t editorialize and I did with The Housewives of Miami,” Cohen confessed.
“Basically Larsa was kind of — it seemed to me — weaponizing to Nicole that her child was born out of wedlock."
The TV personality continued:
“Like, she was saying, ‘I could be calling out that your son was born out of wedlock.' Now, when you say, ‘I could be using something as a weapon,’ you’re basically doing it.'”
The media personality also mentioned that there was "a little bit of semantics" involved in the heated exchange between the 48-year-old OnlyFans model Larsa Pippen and the 37-year-old anesthesiologist Nicole Martin.
“Nicole kept saying, ‘You called my son a bastard,' and [Larsa] said, ‘I didn’t — I just said he was born out of wedlock.'”
Cohen, who admitted to feeling "heated," stepped in to let Pippen know that her remark was offensive.
“That was an a–hole thing to say,” he said.
Andy Cohen, who is a single 54-year-old father through surrogacy, had the joy of welcoming his son Benjamin, 4, and daughter Lucy, 11 months, into his family.
Cohen told the listeners:
“It will come as no surprise to anyone why I got so heated. I’m a single dad of two children, so there is no other person; there is no other parent."
“I got super sensitive to the idea of that being weaponized,” he continued, “and that’s why I jumped in there.”
Shortly after he lost his temper with Larsa Pippen, Andy Cohen, aged 54, publicly apologized for "screaming" at his guest.
Despite apologizing for what he said, the executive producer chose to disclose only limited information about the incident until the episode aired.
In a teasing Instagram Story video from the set of the RHOM reunion back in January, the TV host quipped, “We’re still shooting, and I didn’t have ‘screaming at Larsa’ on my bingo card today.”
OnlyFans model Larsa Pippen, formerly known as Larsa Younan, obviously didn't feel any shame about her offensive words.
In a blunt response, Pippen confronted her boss with a direct question, asking if he was “going to apologize” or not.
Responding to Pippen, he offered a sincere apology, saying “I’m sorry, Larsa,” and adding that he doesn't like "screaming at women."
Pippen is a mother of four, having had her children with ex-husband Scottie Pippen: sons Scotty Jr., 22, Preston, 21, and Justin, 18, and daughter Sophia, 14.
The anesthesiologist Martin and her fiancé, Anthony Lopez, are parents to their two-year-old son, Greyson.
It was a proud moment for TV personality Andy Cohen when he welcomed his first child, a baby boy named Benjamin Allen, via surrogate.
“WOW! This is my son, Benjamin Allen Cohen. He is 9 lbs 2 ounces !! 20 inches !! Born at 6:35 pm, PT He is named after my grandfather Ben Allen,” he wrote.
The birth of baby Lucy through surrogacy has brought immense happiness to Andy Cohen, who joyfully announced the news in a heartwarming Instagram post captioned: “HERE’S LUCY!!!!! Meet my daughter, Lucy Eve Cohen!”
