Alec Baldwin’s legal troubles are getting worse.
The 64-year-old actor and producer is being sued by the family of Halyna Hutchins in Ukraine over her fatal shooting on the set of Rust in October 2021. This lawsuit is different from the one brought against him by Halyna’s widower, which he settled last year.
The late cinematographer’s father, Anatolii Androsovych, mother, Olga Solovey, and sister, Svetlana Zemko, filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and they’re being represented by Gloria Allred and John Carpenter.
According to Allred, who held a press conference in L.A., the lawsuit alleges “battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and loss of consortium,” and names Baldwin, Rust Movie Productions LLC, El Dorado Productions LLC (Baldwin’s production company), armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and others.
In the press conference, Allred showed photos of the family as well as a video in which Svetlana, speaking in Russian, said her sister’s death was “one of the biggest losses of my life.”
She also spoke about how her parents’ “health has sharply declined” and how they can’t “let this go” and “leave this unpunished.”
Allred added that Halyna’s death has been extra difficult for the family because they’re living in Ukraine amid the war. Svetlana has just given birth while her husband fights against the Russian invasion. Olga, meanwhile, is a nurse treating war victims.
The attorney also talked about Baldwin’s settlement with Halyna’s husband, Matt Hutchins, saying it “was for Matthew and his child. And we are now representing others in the family -- mom, dad, and sister -- and there has been no settlement for them.”
She continued, “Matter of fact, there has been no outreach to them by Mr. Baldwin to even say he was sorry. We want accountability and justice for them. It’s as simple as that.”
An attorney for Halyna’s widower told ET that neither he nor his lawyers were “made aware of the family's intention to file a lawsuit before today.”
Matt previously filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Baldwin but they reached a settlement in October last year. According to the terms of the settlement, Matt will join the Rust production as an executive producer.
