Another day, another cute dog video!
This time, it's an adorable golden retriever video. They're notoriously happy animals as it is. Give them some snuggles and a nice toy to fetch and their day is made.
But give them a matching outfit to their favorite toy? Well, you just have to see this golden's over-the-top reaction!
It's the one toy they always reach for whenever the toy basket comes out. They play with it, carry it everywhere, and even snuggle with it. Just like some humans attach to a blankie they had since they were kids, dogs attach to certain toys. It doesn't matter that the toy is old, has rips in it, or smells terrible.
There's even a scientific reason behind this affection. "Some dogs, female dogs in particular, might bond with something that's like a surrogate for a puppy," Erika Loftin, veterinarian and critical care specialist at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital, told The Dodo. "They mother it, they carry it around, and they get attached to it that way."
We're not crying, you're crying! Liz Kover, dog trainer and director of Miracle Mutts, explained to The Dodo that some dogs remember the special moment they received a toy. It's like when your uncle gave you a special gift for Christmas, so you always associate the gift with him.
Since humans understand the special connection dogs have with toys (some like toys that remind them of puppies, others tear apart their toys, and some are ball-obsessed), some have made their dogs' dreams come true.
The sweet golden retriever was just playing with his toy when it suddenly came to life! While it sounds like the plot of Toy Story, it was actually his owner who got the exact costume.
The dog went nuts! He stood up slowly, tip-toed over, and then gave his real-life toy lots of kisses and hugs. At one point, he even tackled him to the ground!
TikTok user @monte_the_golden posted the most adorable video of her golden retriever. "My dog when he matches his favorite toy," the text overlay read. The video showed her dog in absolute bliss while wearing the same blue collar as his toy.
People loved it. "He said 'you look just like me,'" one user wrote. "My heart can't take this much cuteness," added another.
