A little healthy competition between spouses can be good for a marriage. And after this year's Grammy nominations were released, it would appear that the competitive juices are most definitely flowing in the Carter/Knowles residence.

That's because in the wake of the announcement made on November 15th, 2022, it was revealed that Beyoncé is now officially tied with her husband, Jay-Z, for most Grammy nominations in the award show's history.

Before the Nominations Were Released, Jay-Z Held the Title for “Most Grammy Nominations”

Prior to Tuesday, Jay-Z had amassed a staggering 83 nominations over the course of his historic career. That's more than Sir Paul McCartney (81), the legendary Quincy Jones (80), and his incredibly talented wife, Beyoncé (79). But now, thanks to Queen Bey's latest album, Renaissance, Jay-Z's time at the top of the Grammy nominations list may be quickly coming to an end.

Jay-Z also had an impressive showing and managed to lock up another five Grammy nominations — including one for "Best Song" on Beyoncé's Break My Soul, as he's included as one of the track's songwriters. Ironically enough, Jay-Z will be competing against himself in this category since he was also nominated for DJ Khaled's single, God Did.

Break My Soul marks the eighth time Beyoncé has received a nomination for "Record Of The Year," making her the most-nominated artist in that specific category. Previously, Queen Bey held a tie with Frank Sinatra, who managed to secure seven nominations in that category throughout his storied and iconic career.

‘Renaissance’ Also Helped Beyoncé To Break Even More New Grammy Ground

This year marks the first time that Beyoncé has been nominated in the category for "Best Dance/Electronic Recording" and "Best Dance/Electronic Music Album." She is also the most-awarded female artist of all time, with 28 Grammy wins to her name. All Beyoncé needs is to win four of the nine categories she's nominated in, and she will make history by becoming the most decorated artist in the history of the Grammys, surpassing conductor Sir Georg Solti who currently sits at 31.
