The famous burger without buns is making its rounds on the internet again and boosting its reputation as a healthy alternative to McDonald's Big Mac! A TikTok user, Amber Rae, went viral for transforming her cheeseburger into a burger salad with her unusual order.

Her comments from over 100 TikToker conflicted with some praising her for the hack and others expressing horror at her order. Rae learned the trick from working at McDonald's and decided it was time to teach others.

McDonald's Salad Hack

A close-up view of her order showed the content, including a deluxe double quarter cheese, no silvered onions, extra mustard, ketchup, pickle, mayonnaise, three Roma tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and no sesame bun.

She got a salad but christened it a fancy name - Burger Salad. Rae's order rang up to $11. She further encouraged users to order via the app if they're shy to ask for unusual mixes in person.

When asked how she came up with the recipe, Rae said she worked in McDonald's a learned of the endless possibilities as long as the customers want it.

Remembering Dr. Atkins' Impact

One user said she'd substitute the mayo, mustard, and ketchup for the Mac Sauce. Others told Rae it wasn't a new recipe with reference to Dr. Robert Atkins' bunless burger, which went viral in the early 2000s.

The late dietician sold over 15 million books with revolutionary recipes, including the double patty burgers. In some cases, they were double lettuces with fillings inside. However you remix it, the burger only works without a bun.

A Healthy Alternative To Carbs

While it may sound bad, the salad from burger is a hit with TikTokers in the comments who tried it. One user said she loved the alternative because McDonald's doesn't have a wheat alternative, and she's allergic.

In Europe, there's a gluten-free option, but the American outlets don't appear to have it on the menu. Rae confirmed that she knew the recipe wasn't new and was only sharing something she knew.

Would The Salad Make A Comeback?

"McDonald's sold salads back in 1999 I used to enjoy them. whether by choice or dietary purposes, if it works for that person then so be it!"

TikTokers hope Rae's viral video will prompt the fast food outlet to restore its salad serving from the late nineties. Rae added that her latte order was added to the price when asked about the price.

Standing Behind Her Recipe

Rae stood her ground against negative commenters including somebody calling her meal a "white" recipe and another chastising her for making a "complex" order at the fast food joint instead of making it at home.

Many TikTokers suggested the Burger King Low Carb Whopper as a good alternative since McDonald's doesn't actually sell salads on a plate.
