There are few celebrities who are as universally beloved as Brendan Fraser. The Canadian-American actor is best known for his roles in a series of '90s and early 2000's movies that shaped an entire generation. He played the titular character in George of the Jungle, starred in Looney Tunes: Back in Action and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Now, the actor is trending after his comeback film, The Whale, was met with a SIX MINUTE standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.

In case you missed the memo, beloved '90s actor Brendan Fraser is on his way to having one of the greatest Hollywood comebacks of all time.

His new film, The Whale, features Brendan as a "reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption."

Fans got a first look at the "George of the Jungle" actor's transformation back in July.

"It’s gonna be like something you haven’t seen before," Brendan said about The Whale. "The wardrobe and costume was extensive, seamless, cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done."

"I do know it’s going to make a lasting impression," he added, and after the reactions at Sunday night's screening at the Venice Film Festival, it's safe to say Brendan was right.

Brendan's former co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to social media to wish his friend well.

"Man this makes me so happy to see this beautiful ovation for Brendan. He supported me coming into his Mummy Returns franchise for my first ever role, which kicked off my Hollywood career," the actor wrote. "Rooting for all your success brother," he added.

Many fans praised the actor's triumphant return to the big screen.

"Brendan Fraser got blacklisted from Hollywood for being brave enough to come forward about his sexual assault, he is now getting his moment to look back at the industry that spat him out and roar in its face with #TheWhale - we [expletive] LOVE to see it," tweeted one fan.

"brendan fraser was sexually assaulted by a hollywood executive, blacklisted from most major motion pictures for almost 2 decades, and comes back from his struggle to a 6-minute standing ovation in his honor tonight.

"what a [expletive] champion," echoed another.

After such a difficult journey in Hollywood, fans were so proud to see their beloved Brendan finally receiving the praise he deserves.

I don't know about you, but now I want to see this film even MORE than I did before!

The Whale will be hitting theaters on December 9th.
