There are few celebrities who are as universally beloved as Brendan Fraser. The Canadian-American actor is best known for his roles in a series of '90s and early 2000's movies that shaped an entire generation. He played the titular character in George of the Jungle, starred in Looney Tunes: Back in Action and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Now, the actor is trending after his comeback film, The Whale, was met with a SIX MINUTE standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.
His new film, The Whale, features Brendan as a "reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption."
"It’s gonna be like something you haven’t seen before," Brendan said about The Whale. "The wardrobe and costume was extensive, seamless, cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done."
In the hours following the film's premiere, videos of the star crying at his EPIC six-minute-long standing ovation went viral.
"Man this makes me so happy to see this beautiful ovation for Brendan. He supported me coming into his Mummy Returns franchise for my first ever role, which kicked off my Hollywood career," the actor wrote. "Rooting for all your success brother," he added.
"Brendan Fraser got blacklisted from Hollywood for being brave enough to come forward about his sexual assault, he is now getting his moment to look back at the industry that spat him out and roar in its face with #TheWhale - we [expletive] LOVE to see it," tweeted one fan.
I don't know about you, but now I want to see this film even MORE than I did before!
The Whale will be hitting theaters on December 9th.
