It's not easy to grow up under Hollywood scrutiny. Young stars like Selena Gomez know this more than anybody. From a very tender age, celebrities like her have to deal with people commenting on their appearance, and that can affect a young person's psyche.

So it's great to see that Selena, for one, isn't letting it get to her head. Instead, she's embracing who she really is.

Selena Gomez has always been a body-positive advocate.

She has said that having Lupus has affected her body weight which often fluctuates, and it doesn't help that people often comment on it. Oh, my goodness. That can't be easy to deal with, right?

Selena recently posted a video on TikTok.

In it, she's wearing a one-piece swimsuit and looking fabulous. But what's different about the video is the voice-over she used. While she's lounging, the voice says, "Suck it in. I'm not sucking [expletive] in. Real stomachs is coming the [expletive] back, OK?" Ha, ha, that's amazing!

Obvi, Selena isn't caring too much about what people say, and good for her, no? Earlier this year, she shared a story while visiting a fast food joint. Here's what she said:

"So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings and a spicy chicken sandwich."

Right on!

Selena claims these days she doesn't care what the body shamers say because no matter what she looks like, they will still have something negative to say about her. If she's skinny, people say she's too skinny. If she puts on weight, she's too fat for them.

So, she can't win either way.

But the good thing is that Selena doesn't let the negative comments get to her. Not anymore, anyway. She says that she's perfect the way she is, and I, for one, agree with that.

These days Selena is focusing on her mental health.

The former Disney star revealed she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020. And she even took a four-and-a-half-year break from social media to work on herself. The singer even turned to her mother, Mandy Teefy, to help her create a safe online space.

After Selena took a break from social media, she felt happier and more present. She was also able to connect more with people and it made her feel normal. Well, that's totally understandable and I think a very healthy approach.

These days, Selena is back starring in Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building".

Season 2 just started on June 28. In addition to that, Selena is also releasing new music along with product launches for her Rare Beauty cosmetic line. Wow! That's exciting, no?

Isn't it fabulous to see Selena fully embracing who she is?

I think she's a great example for young girls everywhere. Even though growing up in Hollywood can be challenging, it's young stars like these that are making it work. The best thing they can do is ignore all the hate and focus on what's important in life. Do you agree with me?
