Who in your household is the person who rounds up everybody and gets them ready for the day? If you said "me," then you're going to relate to this story more than anyone, ha, ha.

This one mom of five had a hard time getting her husband out of bed in the morning, and she decided to teach him a lesson. Let's find out how this story turned out.

A woman recently posted on Reddit's AITA (Am I The Asshole) thread.

She's a mom of five, and she runs the household with her husband. But the thing is — lately the hubby hasn't been keeping up with his duties. While he gets to stay in bed, the wife is up early to get the kids ready.

"For a long time there's been an issue with him getting up to help with the kids of a morning: he thinks he should be able to sleep in on his days off work, while I think he should get up when the kids and I do, or we should at least be alternating who lies in a bit," the mom wrote in her Reddit post.

She even had a conversation with the hubby.

And he promised to shape up. But guess what? That hasn't happened yet. So one day, the family made plans to go to the zoo. They were meeting up with extended family too, but as usual, the husband wouldn't get up on time.

While the wife got up at 6:30 a.m., he kept snoozing his alarm clock.

The dutiful wife got all the five kids ready, and the husband was still in bed. So she did the one thing she thought was right — she took off for the zoo, leaving him behind.

"At 8 a.m. he was still sleeping, so I loaded the kids in the car and we set off," she wrote.

When the husband finally woke up he was shocked everybody was gone.

And he gave his wife an earful on the phone:

"At 10:15 a.m. I got a phone call from him asking where everyone was. I said we went to the zoo as planned, and I waited for him to get up but he never did. He got really mad and told me that I should've woken him up like I always do, and I caused him to miss the trip," the woman said in her post.

They argued, and he called his mom to complain about his wife. And guess what? The MIL yelled at the wife at the zoo in front of everyone. Thankfully the wife's mother was there too and stepped in to defend her actions.

They both argued he's a grown man who can take responsibility for his own actions, in this case, not waking up on time.

The wife gave him plenty of chances to shape up, but he didn't. She left him behind so he could learn an important lesson — be on time or miss out. Simple, huh?

The wife posted on Reddit to ask people if she was the asshole in this situation.

But to her surprise, most people agreed with her actions. They said the husband takes her for granted and does not share the responsibility equally. And that his own mother was encouraging his behavior.

To put things in context, here's a little more info.

The wife explained in the post to say that her husband wasn't always like that. Things changed when they moved in with their in-laws. So there are definitely external factors at play here. But that's still not an excuse for his poor behavior. However, the couple is in therapy and working things out.

After the wife got a lot of concerning comments she updated the post.

She wanted people to know that her husband finally seemed to "get it" and started making more effort to change his behavior. He also saw all the comments people made about him and felt bad that he put his wife in this position. So positive things are happening for this couple.

Was the wife right to leave her husband behind and go on a zoo trip without him? I say, yes! This was definitely a frequently occurring issue that the couple discussed before. So she didn't spring this on him. As a grown-up, he has to take responsibility for his own actions and not make up excuses. Do you agree?
