Shortly after The Matrix first came out, Keanu Reeves once made an 80-year-old fan's dream come true, as we've learned from a now-viral Reddit story.

I'm sure I don't have to make you aware of Keanu Reeves' reputation as one of the world's biggest sweethearts right now. Not only has he done a lot for others and went the extra mile to make his co-stars feel special, but he's been known for similarly thoughtful gestures towards the random fans he meets as well.

But while those fans are usually in his presence at the time, Reeves made a pretty major exception for one grandmother who had developed something of a crush on him.

And what he did made all of our hearts melt even harder.

As part of a larger Reddit discussion about celebrity encounters, one user named afdc92 told us about the super sweet thing Reeves did for their grandmother.

As they explained, this woman had developed quite the crush on Reeves because he reminded her of her late husband when he was young.

In their words, "She had a stroke in her early 70s and was pretty much housebound for the last 10 years of her life, so watching movies was her main hobby, and became almost like friends to her because she so rarely got to see any of her own."

That being the case, she had watched everything Reeves was in from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure right up to the then-new The Matrix.

And it was shortly after that movie came out that our narrator's uncle found himself in Los Angeles on business.

While the uncle was eating at an upscale restaurant, Reeves happened to walk in with a female companion.

This uncle normally wouldn't relish the idea of bothering a celebrity while they're out in public, but this was an opportunity that he couldn't let slip away.

As he approached Reeves and said, "I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad."

And while many celebrities would've politely accepted that compliment, Reeves did the uncle one better and asked if he had a cell phone.

And when the uncle answered that he did, Reeves said, "Give her a call, I want to talk to her.”

Sure enough, Reeves would spent the next several minutes having a surprise conversation with the grandma. Although the details of what they discussed weren't shared, we do know the most important part.

Namely, that this short exchange absolutely made the grandma's entire year.

As the original poster put it, "She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is."

This story warmed the hearts of other commenters so much and made a couple of them tear up, but it also wasn't exactly a shocking story to hear about Reeves.

In the words of one user, "Just when you think we've reached peak Keanu, he ascends even higher."
