Ashton Kutcher is on a nostalgic trip. More than 15 years since That '70s Show ended, the series star is back for the upcoming Netflix spinoff, That '90s Show.
In a new interview with Variety, he revealed that being back on set after so many years was quite the trip. There was a lot of nostalgia and fun times to be hard with his wife, Mila Kunis, and their former co-stars.
The series, which is set in 1995, follows Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna’s (Laura Prepon) daughter Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) as she spends a summer with her grandparents in Wisconsin.
This means the return of Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp AKA Red and Kitty.
This includes Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos.
Fans will also be delighted to know that most of the show's original cast members are returning.
Kutcher will once again play the dumb but loveable Michael Kelso. He'll be joined by Grace, Prepon, Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama, who are all ready to step back into time.
It's been confirmed that he will not reprise his role as the grumpy Steven Hyde. There's currently a criminal trial against him for multiple rape and assault allegations from 2018.
It's hard to say whether the show will explain his permanent absence or just skip over it entirely. They may have to, considering the original cast is returning.
“It was really nostalgic to be back on the set," he said in an interview with Variety.
Ashton explained that he and his wife, Mila Kunis, whom he met on the show, were "contemplating" the decision to come back and reprise their roles.
"We just went back and had fun for a week. It was so random and fun," he added.
“It’s really funny. The new cast is phenomenal," he said. That '90s Show isn't the only reunion he's had lately.
The actor recently reunited with The Office's B.J. Novak 20 years after they worked on Punk'd.
In it, Kutcher plays Quentin Sellers, a Texas music producer. He gets interviewed by Novak's character, a journalist and podcaster who is trying to investigate the death of a former flame.
"And I was like, 'Absolutely, I'll do it,' and the character was fun, and it seemed interesting and worthwhile," Kutcher said.
While there are still a few months to wait for That '90s Show, Vengeance hits theaters July 29.
