Let me ask you something, were you into Game of Thrones? I'll admit I jumped on the bandwagon a little late. I think the show was in Season 4 when I started watching it. But I quickly binge-watched it and caught up, hehe. That was history, as they say — I was hooked, indeed.
So I'm not surprised that GOT is still one of the most popular shows in the world, and I've got some good news for you. Check it out.
According to Parrot Analytics, which measures audience demand, Game of Thrones ranked number 5 out of all popular TV series in the US over the last 30 days as of June 21. Wow! Isn't that surprising, huh?
So you wouldn't think it would still be as popular. But, check this out: Apparently, Game of Thrones was 47 times more in demand than the average series in the US in that same period. Nice. Even when you take into account current shows like Better Call Saul (my other favorite) and Amazon's The Boys.
And get this, Game of Thrones is even a bigger global hit. It ranks number 4 in that time period. Holy moly! And that's not all. It was 78 times more in demand than an average show. Amazing, huh?
I have to admit I liked Obi-Wan but not as much as Mandalorian or Boba Fett. Over the last 10 years Game of Thrones consistently ranked as one of the top 10 most in-demand shows globally.
Get ready for it: There are two Game of Thrones-related shows coming your way. The first one, House of the Dragon, premieres on August 21. This prequel to the Game of Thrones takes place about 300 years before and it centers around the story of the Targaryen civil war.
The second show will be a sequel to the original Game of Thrones series with Jon Snow as its main character. Yay! I don't know about you but I'm excited about this one in particular. I would love to see what happens to him after GOT wrapped up.
So I can't wait to see what they come up with here. And the good news is that the actor who played Jon Snow, Kit Harington, is set to return to the role.
I don't know about you, but I wasn't thrilled about how Game of Thrones ended. In fact, I was pretty furious. I feel like the character of Jon Snow went back to the beginning of the show. So I hope HBO will do something interesting to his character in this new series.
