People have always worked jobs from home, but since 2020, it's become more and more commonplace. Of course, while a home office is nice to have, one doesn't actually have to be at home to work from home.

So long as you have a stable internet connection, you could work from the backyard, from a beach, or even while you're sitting in your car at a Starbucks drive-thru.

If you're a bit skeptical of the 'work from home from Starbucks' claim, read on.

Working from home is a good thing, actually.

Some folks need the structure and social stimulation that an office environment provides. But an increasing number of workers have found that they don't need the office at all. In fact, studies show that those who work from home spend 10 fewer minutes a day being unproductive and are 47 percent more productive in general.

Can work from home extend to the Starbucks drive-thru?

Both me and my wife work from home, and we sometimes take a midday break to go for a drive. Often, these drives lead to the Starbucks drive-thru.

It's just a way to break up the monotony of being in the house all day. Neither one of us has ever considered the possibility of literally taking our work with us to the drive-thru.

Behold: someone who does her job in a Starbucks drive-thru.

Sherry, who you can find on TikTok @ilove2giggle2, shared this short video. You can see that she's wearing the same kind of headset worn by people who work call center jobs.

There's a good reason for this. Sherry is actively doing her job while lined up in the Starbucks drive-thru.

She takes a few calls during the video.

The video is brief and not particularly in-depth. It's essentially a proof of concept — with the concept being whether someone can effectively do their job while they're queued up for a venti caramel macchiato.

Commenters loved it.

In TikTok videos that show a person flexing over their work from home situation, commenters are often at least a little bit jealous. But for whatever reason, not many had a problem with Sherry's work from home situation, perhaps because it was so low-key and relatable.

Working call center jobs and popping into Starbucks are experiences so commonplace that they're almost universal.

It's mostly just a stunt.

Needless to say, Sherry wouldn't be able to do everything that her job demands from the Starbucks drive-thru. She also said she was "just joking" when a commenter asked if she was really working from the drive-thru.

More likely than not, Sherry was able to take a couple of calls in the drive-thru, but does her serious work from a home office.

It's a reminder of the flexibility of working from home.

Not many of us are bold enough to try to do our jobs from a drive-thru, but working from home still provides plenty of flexibility for the less adventurous. It's far easier to switch up your positioning, or even to take your work outside, than it is in a conventional office setting.
