While you may not think marrying yourself is a real thing, it actually is in some countries and places. Recently one woman decided that in an ultimate act of self-love, she has decided to marry herself.

One 24-year-old from India has announced she is her own soulmate.
Kshama Bindu, who is a sociology graduate and a content creator from India, has decided to marry herself in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Her friends and family will also be in attendance for the wedding.
Some people, at first, believed it was a "publicity stunt."
There were many people who felt the 24-year-old was announcing her marriage to herself simply to gain attention from others. However, Kshama clapped back letting the world know it is much deeper than that.
Kshama says she does want a wedding.

The soon-to-be bride says she wants the wedding day itself, but not a "partnership."
"I realized that I don't require a prince charming because I am my own queen. I want the wedding day, but not the next day," Kshama told India's NDTV.
Instead of going home with someone else, she gets to be with herself.
"That is why I have decided to marry myself on June 11. I will dress up like a bride, take part in rituals, my friends will attend my wedding and then I will come back to my house instead of going with the groom," she said.
The bride is going to follow many of the Hindu traditions for weddings, as well.

Kshama explained she will start her wedding day with a traditional Haldi bath, which is a blessing for a good marriage. Water is mixed with turmeric and oil and then applied all over the body.
There will also be other rituals followed.

The bride is going to have her hands painted with henna and her hair marked with vermilion powder, as Hindu brides do, before going to the temple for the wedding. The ceremony will also have Sangeet, which is ceremonial dancing and music.
Despite the traditions, Kshama is making history.

Although her wedding will have traditional Hindu ties and rituals, it is the first solo marriage ceremony happening in the country, let alone in the Hindu tradition. The bride said she had done the research and realized no one had married themself before.
She explained she sees this as an act of "love."

“Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding,” explained Kshama.
After her wedding, she plans to go on a two-week honeymoon, solo.
To connect with herself further and to reflect on her self-love, Kshama planned a two-week honeymoon in Goa. The time will allow her to celebrate her nuptials to herself, and also connect deeper.
