Shakira's online fan community has expressed concern after pictures of the singer riding in an ambulance surfaced online. The 45-year-old is fine, and took to social media to clarify the situation and hopefully alleviate their worries.

Late last month, pictures of the "Hips Don't Lie" singer riding in an ambulance in Barcelona, Spain, emerged online, sparking concern and speculation from both fans and the general public.

Of course, many were confused as to what was going on with Shakira.

At the time of the incident, which took place over Memorial Day weekend, it was unclear as to what exactly was happening, and how Shakira was involved.

But, Shakira posted a tweet reassuring fans.

One week later, on June 4th, the singer posted a tweet composed of two images. The first is a message written in both English and Spanish, while the second is one of Shakira with her father, William Mebarak Chadid.

In the first image, Shakira explains that she was in the ambulance with her father that day.

"Guys, I’m getting a lot of messages of concern that I was seen in an ambulance in Barcelona recently," she begins in the bottom half of the note.

It continues with the unfortunate news regarding her father.

"I just wanted to let you know that those photos are from last weekend (the 28th) when my dad, unfortunately, had a bad fall and I accompanied him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is recovering now."

Shakira herself is okay, but it seems that her father is still in recovery.

She ends the message by saying, "Please do send all your best wishes his way, and thank you all as always for all of your love & support."

And fans did their best to follow that request.

The tweet, which was posted to Shakira's 53 million Twitter followers, has received over half a million likes, and has thousands of comments of people wishing the singer and her father well.

This news comes at the same time as the announcement that Shakira and her partner have split.

In a joint statement from both Shakira and partner Gerard Piqué, also released June 4th, the couple said, "We regret to confirm that we are separating."

The statement continues, with the pair asking for patience and respect from fans.

"We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect."

The two have been in a relationship since 2011.

Piqué, a soccer player, first met Shakira in 2010, on the music video set for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," which was the official song for the FIFA World Cup that year.

They also share two children together.

Shakira and Piqué have two sons, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7. It's been reported that Piqué is living in Barcelona, while Shakira is with their kids.

In addition to the well-wishes for her father, Shakira's fans are wishing her well after her separation.
