Let me ask you something: how often do you go out to eat out at restaurants? Are they usually fancy types of places? I don't know about you, but I tend to frequent establishments that are reasonably priced.
So I was quite surprised when I heard about this one steakhouse restaurant chain that came up with a minimum order requirement for all its customers. Let's find out exactly what this is all about. Shall we?
Is it at least $100? Well, if that's so, then you'll probably have no problem with this latest change one restaurant recently implemented. I'm talking about a high-end steakhouse called Steak 48.
But it's the two latter locations that recently changed things up. They have adopted a new policy that requires customers to spend at least $100 to eat there. Now, that doesn't even include the tax or the tip.
Oh, yes, that's right. On the restaurant's website, they explain that this requirement is "to ensure that each guest enjoys the total experience of food, service, and atmosphere." Aha, okay! I have to admit I'm kind of smirking at that.
Not only do they now have this wild requirement, but the restaurant also has a strict dress code. Apparently, proper attire is required for the comfort and enjoyment of all of their guests, as the website also states.
And I guess that's the case with many of their customers, too. At least a few of them voiced their opinions on Twitter, and they weren't exactly good. Check out these priceless comments here, hee-hee.
Seriously? I never had to read a dress code before to go to a restaurant. That's new to me. I feel bad for the ladies that need to suffer in the heat of the summer to be able to fit into these standards here.
LOL! Some people even brought up this issue: If the restaurant is now requiring this minimum spend, then will that increased revenue result in higher wages for the wait staff? That's what I would like to know, too.
Go to Costco, and for $100, you can buy yourself found ribeyes, four lobster tails, two pounds of spinach, and a bag of potatoes. That way, you can feed a family of four instead of spending that on a restaurant bill for one person.
I don't know about you, but I rather do that than visit this restaurant that sets such crazy requirements to eat there. They are pretty much discriminating against people who can't afford to fork over $100 per person. And to that, I say — too bad! I've lost my appetite, alright.
