Sometimes, smaller is better. A smaller house means less to clean. A smaller plate means less food wasted. And a smaller wedding means a whole lot less stress.

At the end of the day, a wedding is about two people and the love they share. That's why some celebs chose to keep their weddings super low-key — sometimes with only a few close friends and family and, some, with no one in attendance. Which, if you ask me, is a great way to go. I always said I would rather have a smaller wedding so I can go insane on the honeymoon, or buy a better house. But hey, that's just me.

Now, let's take a look at 19 of these low-key weddings.

The "Breathin" singer's wedding was about as unorthodox as her engagement ring. She married the real estate agent in her home in Montecito, California on May 15, 2021. Although Ariana's entourage is big, they had less than 20 guests present.

After keeping his nuptials a secret for months, the singer-songwriter shared a few details on the "Table Manners with Jessie Ware" podcast.

He said that they got married on a random night in January in the middle of nowhere. "No one knew, no one came to it. We lit candles, we got married, we went back [and] had a curry."

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas

Before the couple had a traditional wedding ceremony in France, they tied the knot at Chapel L'Armour in Las Vegas. Everything about this was unique: from an Elvis impersonator being their officiant to them exchanging ring pops.

Everything about the British pair's relationship has been top secret (much like Craig's role as James Bond). So, it was no surprise when they wed in 2011 with only four people present: their own children and two close friends.

It doesn't get much more low-key than getting married in a barn.

That's what the couple did for their 2012 wedding in the countryside of Somerset, England. They had a few celeb guests, such as Adele and Sienna Miller.

A hundred and forty-seven dollars was all the couple spent to make their courthouse wedding happen in 2014. They later revealed that they wanted to save the money to buy a family member a house instead.

Miranda Lambert and Brendan Mcloughlin

After her highly-profiled marriage and divorce to Blake Shelton, the country singer got married in secret for her second wedding.

"In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched!” Lambert wrote on Instagram on Feb. 16, 2019.

After two public (and failed marriages), the Avengers actress preferred to keep things low-key for her marriage to the SNL star. They got married at home with close friends and family. Their only wedding wish was to raise money for Meals on Wheels America.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka

This long-time couple has proved that low-key weddings last! They got hitched in front of close family, friends, their twins, and Elton John in 2014.

"In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband," Neil wrote on Twitter.

Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma

Although Hilary's character is searching for love in How I Met Your Father, she found it in real life with Matthew Koma. They said "I do" in their front yard with close family and friends.

The couple kept their 1997 wedding so secretive, not even their guests knew that they were getting married!

In order to have guests think they were attending a normal party, the Sex and the City star even wore a black dress.

Although she's a supermodel, Emily didn't need all the glitz and glamour for her wedding. She married the film producer at New York city hall in front of a few friends and in a $200 Zara suit.

Everything about the actress's wedding was low-key, down to the venue and her dress, which she has since re-worn.

She and James had a 10-minute ceremony in the south of France with only 10 people in attendance, including the mayor who wed them.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z

While their net-worths alone (or combined) could've earned them the biggest wedding known to man, the longtime couple kept things low-key. They married privately in front of 40 guests and then had a small reception in Jay-Z’s apartment.

While we all know that Miley can't be tamed, her wedding to the Hunger Games actor was the exception to this rule. The former couple had a spontaneous, intimate wedding ceremony at their home in Nashville with a small guest list.

While she may be over-the-top in her outfits and raps, Cardi kept things very low-key for her wedding to Offset. She didn't even wear makeup or a dress!

TMZ even found the couple's marriage certificate before news broke that they were even engaged. Sneaky, sneaky!

"We just took off into the country with an officiant, just the two of us, and we did our thing," Thomas told James Corden about their low-key ceremony. "It was just the two of us talking to each other."

The former pair, who are 17 years apart, have always chosen to keep their relationship private. So when they got married, they asked their guests to surrender their phones so they could have a social media-free reception in their apartment's backyard garden.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

Although their relationship started quite publicly (they first met on That '70s Show), they opted to get married in secret on a ranch.

"My theory on weddings is: Don't invite anyone. Do it privately and secretly. My parents are OK with that," Mila said, according to Vogue.
