Since I'm a huge movie buff, I was always into Hollywood. I admired my favorite actors from the past and present. And often, I even speculated about a different actor playing a particular role. Would they have been better?

Well, as it turns out, according to some people, a movie was totally ruined for them because they disliked the actor in it. Let's find out which ones evoked that kind of reaction in people.

Andy Dick In 'Old School'

"Movie: Old School. Loser Actor: Andy Dick I honestly dislike every single thing about Andy Dick. I even hate his alter ego Kathy Griffen. But the movie Old School is really, really good."

I sadly have to agree with that, lol. Andy Dick ruins every movie for me.

Shia LaBeouf In 'Transformers'

"The first three Transformers movies and Shia LaBeouf. Yeah, you don’t see those for the plot; you just want to see giant CGI robots fighting each other. The human scenes could have been cut out, and it would be fine."

My fiancé would agree with that. He really dislikes Shia LaBeouf.

Zooey Deschanel in 'Elf'

"Elf. I really can't stand Zooey Deschanel. I feel like this is the only movie where she isn't basically playing herself."

I actually haven't seen Elf, but for a different reason. I couldn't stand Will Ferrel in that movie. He's too irritating to me, but I do like him in other movies.

Kevin Costner In 'The Untouchables'

The Untouchables

"I have a pretty low opinion of Kevin Costner's acting chops, but The Untouchables is a great movie. He just ruins that line where he arrests Frank Nitti, 'You killed my FRIEND!!!' I feel like he pushed the role of Eliot Ness off the building along with the hitman after he delivers that sentence, even if it is quite rare form for David Mamet to write so sloppy a line."

Oh, I have to rewatch it now. Thanks.

Owen Wilson In 'Midnight In Paris'

Midnight In Paris
IMDb | IMDb

"Midnight in Paris / Owen Wilson. Goodbye to ever being able to take that movie seriously."

Okay, but to defend Owen Wilson, this was a Woody Allen movie, no? So can anybody take a Woody Allen movie seriously? I don't think so.

Maggie Gyllenhaal And Katie Holmes In 'The Dark Knight'

The Dark Knight
IMDb | IMDb

"The Dark Knight: Maggie Gyllenhaal."

"I couldn't stand her and Katie Holmes in the role. Absolutely loved the movies but those two were awful. Katie's acting was like someone who has no self-awareness and is obviously acting. Like she can't portray emotions correctly because she's pretending to have the emotion instead of living the role. Maggie just seemed like a conceited know-it-all and I wanted to punch her."

Wow, take it easy there.

Will Ferrel In 'The Other Guys'

Will Ferrell
IMDb | IMDb

"I'm not a huge fan of Will Ferrell, but... I love 'The Other Guys.'"

This isn't the movie I hated seeing Will Ferrel. As I said earlier, for me, it was Elf. Oh, and probably Anchor Man, too.

Jared Leto In 'Requiem For A Dream'

Jared Leto
IMDb | IMDb

"Jared Leto and Requiem for a Dream. I liked Leto when the movie came out, but as the years went on I just couldn't be bothered to watch his smug face in anything...but I still watch this movie every couple of years or so and he's solid in it."

I guess things went downhill from there, eh?

Megan Fox In 'How To Lose Friends And Alienate People'

"How to Lose Friends and Alienate People Megan Fox in her best role ever. She plays a vapid, charmless actress who is only popular because she is hot and stars in a movie franchise she is totally inappropriate for."

Ha, ha, talking about fiction imitating life, right?

Jennifer Garner In 'Juno'

IMBD | IMDb

"I love Juno but can’t stand Jennifer Garner."

The thing is, I'm not a huge fan of Jennifer Garner either, but somehow her role in Juno was pretty good. She also did a great job in Butter.

Samuel L. Jackson In 'The Long Kiss Goodnight'

"I don't actually dislike Samuel L Jackson, but I AM sick of him. He's in seemingly every movie made. In spite of that, I dearly love The Long Kiss Goodnight. That should have been the start of a franchise. Gina Davis kicks so much ass."

Oh, yeah, let's give mad props to Gena Davis in that one. Forget about Samuel L. Jackson, ha, ha.

Andie McDowell In 'Groundhog Day'

"Groundhog Day is phenomenal in spite of the horrifyingly insipid Andie McDowell."

Sadly, I have to agree with that statement. Unfortunately, I find Andie McDowell's performances quite one-toned. It's like she's always playing the same character.

Jennifer Lawrence In 'Silver Linings Playbook'

"l love Silver Linings Playbook but cannot stand Jennifer Lawrence. Where’s the pizza?"

Oh my goodness, come on! I love Jennifer Lawrence. She's a great actress, and Silver Linings Playbook is one of my favorite movies. Give her some credit, huh?

Gwenyth Paltrow In 'Seven'

IMDb | IMDb

"Seven. Gwenyth Paltrow. Maybe 'starring' is stretching it, but she's definitely in it."

Oh my, I sense some anger there, ha, ha. I happen to like Gwyneth Paltrow as an actress. As a whatever-guru, not so much. In this movie, however, she had basically nothing to do.

Ben Stiller In 'Dodgeball'

Ben Stiller
Giphy | 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

"I can't stand Ben Stiller. He's just the worst. I just can't imagine anyone else playing White Goodman in Dodgeball."

I actually don't particularly like Ben Stiller either, but Dodgeball is one of my favorite comedies. For some reason, he's just perfect for that role, ha, ha.

Julia Roberts In 'Hook'

scene from Hook
IMDb | IMDb

"Hook and Julia Roberts. She's a dumb part of the film, but the rest of the movie makes up for it."

It's good that she's not in it that much, huh? Her part in that movie is totally forgettable. What was she even thinking when she took that role?

Cameron Diaz In 'Gangs Of New York'

Gangs of New York
IMDb | IMDb

"Gangs of New York with Cameron Diaz doing the worst Irish accent in the history of cinema.

EDIT: Many of you have pointed out Tom Cruise in Far and Away. I may have to concede this point. Let’s say Cameron has the worst female Irish accent in the history of cinema."

Ha, ha! I have to agree with both of these choices here.

Tom Cruise In 'Minority Report'

scene from Minority Report
IMDb | IMDb

"When I look at Tom Cruise I get the urge to punch him in the face, but I love Minority Report."

Confession time, I was once totally in love with Tom Cruise. We're talking about the Top Gun, Cocktail, and Rain Man Tom Cruise, not the current one. So I can see how he might get on someone's nerves now.

Boy, who knew there were so many actors that ruined films for people.

Well, they didn't exactly ruin them, but you know what I mean. Some of these actors even though people seem to despise them, worked out for that particular role. The movie wouldn't be the same without them. On the other hand, imagine how much better a film might have been, if say, Andy Dick or Tom Cruise wasn't in it?
